Research Approach

Our approach to research is informed by the principles of Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR). We are grateful to be receiving ongoing training in CBPR from the Detroit Urban Research Center alongside our Tulane University research partner, nolaHYPE.

Our initial research study, “‘Community Care is Our Own Salvation': Community-Based Resilience and Healing for Trans Communities Surviving Natural Disasters in Louisiana,” emerged from our experiences with Hurricane Ida in 2021 and is funded by Tulane University’s Center for Public Service.
